A UNESCO World Heritage site, Kaziranga National Park is only 220 km from Guwahati, the capital of Assam. Its vast stretches of grassland, tropical moist mixed deciduous and semi-evergreen forest, marshland and water bodies, rich flora and fauna attracts hordes of tourists from all over the world. It is a 1030 sq km park consisting of 5 ranges and declared a tiger reserve in 2006. At present it has a high tiger density of 1 tiger per 5 km sq. Kaziranga is 220 km away from Assam's capital, Guwahati, with excellent road connectivity, taking about 5 hours for a road transfer. Guwahati is well-connected by air and train with the rest of the country.
The nearest railway station is Mariani, which is 95 KM away and is a stoppage for important trains like Rajdhani Express, Jan Shatabdi, and other express trains running from Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Amritsar, Kanyakumari, Chennai, Mumbai etc.
The nearest airport to Kaziranga is Jorhat, which is about 90 KM away and approximately a 2-hour drive.
